Independent Film Advisory

In Independent Film, I work both sides of the table — as a credited producer on projects I believe in, and as an investor in the platforms and infrastructure that get independent stories funded. I source projects and platforms through relationships built over nearly a decade in crowdfunding, including 89 (and counting) producer engagements and 27 platform relationships through my Indie Accelerator work. I evaluate them the way I evaluate any founder: is there a real, differentiated story or business here, and does the team have the resilience to survive the public, high-pressure process of financing it outside the traditional studio system.

Independent film financing puts a creative team’s judgment under a very public kind of pressure — a hard deadline, visible rejection risk, and constant exposure to whether the campaign is working. My approach applies performance psychology to exactly that: helping producers and creative teams sustain morale and clear thinking through a public raise, paired with the business fundamentals of structuring financing — crowdfunding, equity, hybrid models — around a project’s actual risk and audience, and the foresight to back the platforms and projects positioned for where independent content, financing, and distribution are heading next.

Film and television meet a different kind of human need than the others on this list — not survival, but meaning, connection, and the stories that help people understand their own lives. My mission in Independent Film is to help producers and creators who have something real to say get it made and get it in front of an audience, without having to hand over creative control to get there.
